It's never too late for the latest vintage of Côtes du Rhône rosé! Domaine des Girasols' 17 hectares of gnarled, old-vine Grenache are found on a rocky, hillside vineyard protected from the Mistral winds on terraces and slopes with clay, calcareous soils covered with rounded stones (much liked the famed hot rocks of Châteauneuf-du-Pape). The reds made from these grapes are full-bodied, concentrated rich and burly wines with black fruit flavors, spice and plenty of garrigue. The rosè is a lighter, fresher version of the reds, with pink fruit flavors (you know, like those rose-hued raspberries you sometimes see at the farmers market), and a crisp, dry finish. Try it with grilled tuna and black olives!
